Christine’s report about the opening show of the Lipperlandhalle Lemgo on 21 October 2005

One of my most beautiful dreams came true on 21 October 2005!

After almost six hours of travelling time my daughter Jacqueline and I arrived in Lemgo. We were waiting for my pen friend Manon first of all and went to the hotel together. A bit later on, we took the time by the forelock and strolled through the small city of Lemgo as a start and as everybody was hungry we also had a snack. Before we all finally headed for the Lipperlandhalle, where the opening show should take place, we all refreshed ourselves.

When we had arrived at our destination, we met Betty and Katja of the Limahl Fanclub. We made shake hands with everybody and talked about a couple of topics. In between time, Betty mentioned that the fanclub would like to surprise a member with a meet and greet who hasn't met Limahl before and that she is waiting for the last information of the management. We were all waiting for a long time but finally there was admission and we could go inside the hall to take our seats. I lost sight of my friend for a short while, but my mind was set at rest, however, when she also finally took her seat. In the meantime, the hall was already quite full, but still we had to wait again until the show was bout to begin.

Christine and her daughter with Limahl

Then I suddenly saw the Limahl's English manager (who is also very nice) appearing in front of the stage. He talked to the fanclub team and all in once, Betty start running and was looking (as it turned out) for me. Wow, super!! I couldn't believe my luck! So I loped to her to the front, asked if I was allowed to bring my daughter as well and it was okay! So I, Betty and Katja and the manager went behind the stage to meet Limahl. What was just happening was really surreal to me (If you know what I mean)! The manager opened a door and I could already see Limahl for a short instant. We entered a room and waited. I almost had to cry as I was so thrilled. Suddenly Limahl entered the room. He first greeted Betty and Katja, then he looked to me and I was introduced to him. He seemed to remember my face and he asked if I have already been to a concert and I said: "Yes, I was in Oranienburg and Zwickau!" I thanked him for the autograph card with the dedication (the one I received for taking part in the Limahl-painting-competition). He took me in his arms and said: "It’s nice to see you!" Then he welcomed my 14-year-old daughter and marvelled at her new jacket which made her extremely proud. I and Jacqueline had our picture taken with Limahl and we all talked about this and that. I was so excited and I didn't really know what to say or to ask. I hoped that Limahl could understand me despite my bad English. He invited us all to a glass of red wine and we also got our autographs. Also one for my friend Manon which I gave her later that evening. I gave Limahl a Teddy (with the name "Chris")! He liked it and said it's "great, very nice and sweet" Then it was time to say goodbye and once again he took us in this arms and said: "Bye!". We all went back to our seats and the first band was already playing.

I couldn't really believe what just happened and it was very hard for me to concentrate on the show. A couple of artists entertained the very different audience. Then it was finally time for "our sunshine" to enter the stage and all of a sudden our tiredness was gone! Limahl and his dancers offered once more a brilliant show! With his voice, his charm and his smile, he enchanted us in the twinkling of an eye. Unfortunately, time seemed to fly again. Limahl sang and performed his songs - I can't remember the sequence though - and involved us actively again. He hold out his microphone to us and we sang: "I just can’t get enough!" and this was so true again! After changing his clothes - he put on his new blue suit - we all knew his performance drew to a close. Unfortunately!!

After this long event we were glad that we could finally sleep in the hotel beds after 24 hours. At about 9.30 h we had breakfast with Manon and Andrea, another Limahl fan and finally we could listen to Limahl on the radio. Then everybody had to go their separate ways, my daughter and I drove back home and it took us almost six hours again. Hopefully, we will have this really wonderful experience in pleasant memory for a very long time!!! ;) END
