Limahl's thoughts on “London for Christmas”

"For many years I've relished the challenge of writing a brand new Xmas song but constantly put it off because I wasn’t sure it could be done; I thought that every Xmas lyric must surely have already been written! I'd also considered the same songwriting challenge with London as the subject - having lived here for over thirty years and still being incredibly passionate about it. Then it occurred to me to try and combine the two subjects - and in that moment, the idea was born! In the song, a couple in love, reminisce about their previous Christmas trips to their favourite city and excitedly plan what they'll do when they return again this year. It is a true thrill for me to finally release a song which I’d contemplated writing for so long and with an end-result, of which I'm very proud”.

I'm a celebrity...get me out of here

Today, the 12th season of “I' m a celebrity...get me out of here” ends on the English channel itv1. Limahl was unfortunately already voted out by the audience as the second celebrity last week. This Saturday you have the chance to take a look at the Australian jungle again. All twelve celebrities – including Limahl – are expected. The itv1 channel can be received on “filmon.com”. On 5th December “The Coming out show” will follow at 8 pm. It will show how the former inhabitants of the jungle reintegrate from the camp into their real life again.

Punctually to the first Advent in the next week, surprised us Limahl with a brand new Christmas song. The song is taking us to the time of a London Christmas, and is appropriately called "London for Christmas" which is available from the 1st December as a digital download. A preview of the song can already be found on amazon.

"London for Christmas" was written by Limahl together with Jon Nickoll, and produced by Ian Curnow.

The very latest news concerning Limahl is that he is taking part in the ITV show “I’m a celebrity ... get me out of here!”. He will parachute into the jungle next week with quirky chef Rosemary Shrager, several days after the other stars entered the camp.

Limahl wasn't during the last weeks just sitting around. But worked together with the Norwegian song writers Tommy Olsen, Rune Maurtvedt and Stig Antonsen and recorded a new song called "1983".

This will be coming out through the Norwegian label Dig Music on the 10th January 2012 via digital distribution - exactly 29 years after the release of "Too Shy" (we hope this will be a good omen ).

The two guys from the Kajafax Community, Steve Conley and Steve Yeo, hatched a fantastic plan to convince KajaGooGoo to digitally publish the track „Death Defying Headlines“ (Release Date: June 12, 2011) and they are also responsible for the entire promotional strategy. To get into the charts, sales are crucial. So the full support of every KajaGooGoo fan is needed. Unfortunately, purchases from outside the UK don't count towards the English chart position, but in the age of social networks, we are sure many of you have contact with people in England. It would be awesome if you could persuade them to download the single. Today, the number 7 plays an important role for us: On 7th April we celebrate the 7th anniversary of the foundation of the fan club. The seven-year itch would thus be over and we are very appreciative that our community has existed for so long now. We would like to thank all members and fans for the years of loyality and support.

“Our Friends Acoustic”

On Thursday 12 May Limahl will perform together with Rick Astley, Jimmy Somerville, Nik Kershaw, Toyah and others at “Our Friends Acoustic”. The artists will perform their biggest 80s hits in acoustic versions at the Clapham Grand in London. Ticktes are available from Ticketmaster, for further information see this website.

On 5th March, Limahl will show his dancing skills on the BBC show „Let's Dance...for Comic Relief“. In each show, six celebrity acts perform famous dance routines and compete for the finale on 12 March. The focus of the four-part series, that starts on 19 February and will be presented by Alex and Steve Jones, however, will be the fun and the fundraising for the charity „Comic Relief“. Radio + TV Interviews

Since July the TV channel arte has time travelled back to the 80s. The theme is Summer of the 80s. In the documentary Welcome to the 80s, there will be some interview snippets with Limahl & Nick Beggs. Episode 1 (Postpunk & NDW) will be aired on 28 August at 6:05 pm German time and episode 2 (Synthie Pop & New Romantic) on 31 August same time. For further information see the arte website.

In the run up to the Hobble on the Cobbles Festivals the guys were interviewed by the channel Bucks TV (interview link). More information about the festival that took place last Sunday can be soon found at the official web page of Bucks TV. A small teaser is already online..

In the course of the 18th Leipzig city festival (5 – 7 June 2009) KajaGooGoo will return to Germany for another concert. This gig will take place on 5th June 2009. The best part of this open air event is that it's for free! With six big stages and 156 hours of programmes, there should be something for every musical taste. Additional artists include SIX, Chris Andrews, InToTos, Bobbin 'B and Guildo Horn amongst others. Today, we're going to party until the corks pop … the fan club is celebrating its 5th anniversary! When we got the okay to found the fan club in the year 2004, we never thought of celebrating this festive day together with you. Today we received the message that this weekends Kajagoogoo concert at Sala Kongresowa in Warsaw has been cancelled. This due to the promoter not fulfilling his agreement with the band. The cancellation of this show is totally out of the bands control. It is totally down to the promoter. The band are deeply disappointed but would like to reassure you that they are working to rescheduling a tour of Poland for 2009. (Source: www.kajagoogoo.com)

In the run-up to the reunion tour, Limahl and the Kaja boys were already working hard and had given many interviews to various radio programmes and newspapers. Most of them will be published at the end of October. Further information will follow soon. The first interview, however, will already be broadcasted on 6 October on the radio station 'Radio Blau' in the programme 'Time Warp' between 9 - 11 pm German times. In the year 1983, came the birth of the compilation series ‘Now that’s what I call music’. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release, the English TV station ITV has invited the artists who were featured on the first album back into the studio. Along with KajaGooGoo, there will also be Howard Jones, Heaven 17, Nik Kershaw, Paul Young, Tony Hadley and Nick Neyward amongst others. The broadcast of the show will be on 21 November 2008 on ITV1. On 10 and 11 December, a concert event of a special kind will take place close to Milton Keynes (England – about 50 miles away from London). First, there will be Limahl's 80s Swing Show and the Rob James Orchester followed by a gig featuring the KajaGooGoo boys. So this is a case where you buy 1 and get 2. ;-)

The place for this event will be the Stables Theatre in Wavendon. Tickets for one event cost £ 25.00 and £ 22.50 respectively. VIP tickets including a meet & greet can be obtained for £ 40.00. The pre-sales start on 30 June 2008. Online bookings are also possible, just visist the website of the Stables Theatre. Small tip: As a big run is expected, make sure you get your tickets quickly.

The live premiere of the five reunited KajaGooGoo Boys went off without a hitch. On 14 June 2008 they played at the Esbjerg Rock Festival in Denmark and treated their fans not only to a couple of songs from their debut album ‘White Feathers’, but also two by Limahl and four tracks from the post Limahl era. The latter were sung as duet by Limahl and Nick Beggs. This is the set list:
