Winners Stories 'One Day with Limahl'

Read the three stories of the winners of the competition "One day with Limahl":

First place : Nadja

Limahl and I would drive/fly to a lonely beach quite early in the morning and enjoy the sunrise. Greece crosses my mind because there are really fantastic sunrises.

If he feels like it, we could also go for a swim in the sea. After this, we could have breakfast with fruit, freshly squeezed juice and bread. Then I could show him around Greece. To see everything it would take a couple of weeks though. However, I would make a small trip to Tole (a small town between one of the fingers of Peloponessos) down to Nafplio which was once the capital of Greece. Nafplio is very famous with artists as during the ages it emerged from a lot of artistic archecture.

We could have a break in a wunderful hidden restaurant which can be found in the alleys of the town. A Greek salad and bread are often home-made and taste delicious!

sunset

The sunset can be best seen from the old fortress of the city which is situated on a hill. In the evening, Limahl probably could warm me up as it can be quite windy there. ;)

The day with Limahl could end in a bungalow with a Budweiser (or also with Ouzo) and with the quiet chirp of the crickets. Maybe we could talk or we just dream. :)

Second place: Nicole

A day with Limahl in London

I really would like to spend my birthday, 3rd May with Limahl in London.

It would go like this:

My favourite place in London is 'Regents Park' and I would like to meet him at London Zoo.

London Big Ben

To get to know each other better, I would, first of all, suggest a walk through the park. After this, we could go to the waxworks at Marylebone. Limahl might tell me about all the sights of London, e. g. Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Buckingham Palace, Museum of Albert and Victoria, Trafalgar Square. But he also has to tell me where to get all the groovy clothes and shoes, what his favourite shops in London were and where he had his hair cut.

When our stomachs are rumbling suddenly, we could go to Soho for a meal. I could then try and find out about his past and his plans for the future.

I really would like Limahl to show me how and where the story of his career with 'Kajagoogoo' had started. Where the nightclub 'The Embassy Club' is and where Limahl had worked as a waiter and barkeeper. And where had all the records he had done been recorded? How did he escape from the many fans who chased him through London? This trip back to the 80s again would be definitely groovy.

We could take a little breather at the 'Princess Diana Fountain" in Hyde Park. Maybe with a little snack?!

However, London by night with Limahl would be much more exciting! To visit cosy pubs or bars with him. Have one or two cocktails together?! Or maybe to visit one of the many musicals, such as 'The Lion King', 'Mamma Mia', 'Joseph' or 'We will rock you'.

Then it would be the time to go. I would say goodbye to him, to thank him for this wonderful day and go back to the hotel lonely with all these ravishingly beautiful memories in my heart, without my sunshine. Unless the hotel where I stayed at was nearby and that Limahl insisted on coming along with me!

What a dream!

Third place : Renate

If I could spend a day with Limahl, I would invite him to my place. As I live in a very nice area of Bavaria (close to Munich), there are many places to go.

First of all, we would do a bike tour on mountain bikes to the nearby Ammersee. When the weather is nice and during a foehn (phenomenon in Bavaria) you have a fantastic view on the Alps. After arriving at the Ammersee we could rent a rowing boat and row on the lake. When drifting on the sea, we could have a nice picnic and go swimming. Back at the shore I would go to a maze in a cornfield with Limahl. It's a cornfield with different paths made of straw and with sunflowers. At the entrance you get a questionnaire and within the cornfield you have to find different stations, answer questions and collect the right stamps to get on the questionnaire. This is so much fun because you always meet other people straying like yourself. Sometimes you also help each other to find the stations. After visiting the maze we could go to an ice cream parlour and have an ice cream and relax at a quite place by the sea.

When the sun goes down and the night closes in, we could take a hot air balloon and see the Ammersee from above (this must be certainly very nice as I haven't done this myself before). We could pass the end of the day with a nice dinner at a beer garden.
